Meshkinfam Historical House History

The Meshkinfam Historical House, originally known as Forough al-Molk House, was built in 1931 during the late Qajar and early Pahlavi periods by Forough al-Molk Ghavami, the son-in-law of the prominent Ghavam family.

Situated in the Sang-e Siah neighborhood near the Bibi Dokhtaran Shrine, the house covers an area of 1,020 square meters. Between 1948 and the mid-1970s, the house was used as an elementary school called Forough al-Molk School.

Over the years, the building gradually deteriorated, but in June 1998, it was officially registered as a national monument of Iran under number 2040. Restoration work began in 2000, led by the Urban Development and Renovation Organization.

The renovation involved replacing the roofs, restoring the brickwork façade, repairing wooden doors and windows, and revamping the decorative tiles and the central courtyard pool.

By 2002, following the completion of the restoration, the house was handed over to Hassan Meshkinfam, and its function was transformed into the Meshkinfam Art Museum.
